Have really gotten out of the habit of keeping up this blog! But something possessed me to check it today, for the first time in many months, and I saw that coincidently, it has been exactly one year since my last post.
So what's new? Running is going OK, 20-25 miles per week these days, entered in April 2016 London Marathon. I deferred my 2015 entry because I didn't feel well-trained enough. Staying injury free, still sticking with strategy of constantly switching shoes. Running five days a week, never wearing the same shoes more than once per week.
Pace has slowed over past couple years, usually my pace is just under 8:00 mm. But I'm not as concerned about speed as I used to be. More concerned about keeping up my distance and motivation as April approaches. Still have six months to train.
Moved to Eastcote a few weeks ago and have been exploring running options there. There's a Runner's World store a few blocks up my street. I stopped in the other day and saw the tequila-sunrise-colored Innov8 shoes I'd coveted in the past, display pair was my size, so bought them along with some other gear. Spoke with the owner about running in the area, and he suggested I join the Hillingdon Athletic Club, based in Ruislip a couple of miles from my house. I've been thinking I might do that, especially as it'd be nice to have a group to run with on Sundays. Not sure how many of their mid-week runs I'd be able to make. So I'll probably do a test run with them on some upcoming Sunday and see how it goes. Motivation for long Sunday runs has been flagging lately, and that ought to change if I'm serious about London 2016. Maybe running with the HAC will help.
