Surprise 5k

Ran a 5k today, New Year's Day 2014, the 'Resolution 5k' in Fredericksburg, VA. Wasn't planning on it until my brother-in-law suggested it yesterday. Wasn't in great shape for it, have been injured (swollen left knee) for much of the past month. I've been improving however, ran 8 miles two days ago, 6 miles yesterday, and then this 3.1 miles today. Did OK. My chip time was 21:12, which placed me 19th (20th by gun time) in a field of 251. My pace (6:49) was a little slower than my 10k pace from this past spring/summer, so I've slipped a bit, but not as bad as I feared following my recent injury. So feeling more or less back in the saddle.
